Accounts Updated

I’m sorry for the delay in updating alumni accounts with access; I’ve been super busy. If you listed a valid position in Apple in your profile then you have access to the employee forums now. There’s not much there now, but it starts with a seed, so I’d encourage you to say a little something.

Also, if you prefer email, we have an After Apple email list now. It, too, is private so be sure to respond to the initial email you get back with some information about what you did at Apple. Note that you’ll get rejected if you try to use an Apple or FileMaker email address; use your public one.

Not Just For Losers

I just wanted to say that blogging on the site isn’t just for losers like me that pick wild topics and get hung out to dry on them. Feel free to use the site as well. No posts make the front page, so to get the blog entries as they come in, go to the blogs page or the blogs RSS feed to get the entries. It’s a communal site and I was kind of hoping for some more talk from alumni.

It doesn’t have to be about Apple. We worked at the same place, but we’re not anymore and any talk is good talk.

A Litte More About the Site

I just wanted to talk a little more about how the site works, so that it's clear.

You have to login for the forums. The forum is blocked for anonymous users, but the blogs are open. This also means we won't be in Google in the forums and no one can link to us. I like that. It gives the place a little privacy while letting you make things public in your name if you wish to.

Once someone registers, their account is read-only for the forums. They cannot post blogs, forum topics, or comments. Anyone can get a read-only account.

Once I've reviewed the account and have a reasonable satisfaction that the person is an employee (right now I'm looking for job titles I'm aware of) then that person is a verified user and can post, make a buddy list and bookmarks, and all the other fun.

It should work. If you have any further suggestions, let me know. I'm just trying to keep the community from being watched intensely by the Mac sites and give us a little room to ourselves out he
